A spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Insurance confirmed that United Risk Management Services, a managing general agency headquartered in New Jersey, is under investigation by that department for issues involving premiums, surplus lines tax and illegal fees.
According to the Texas Department of Insurance, neither United Risk Management Services nor its owner, Jerry Pohida, is licensed to solicit insurance business in Texas. However, United Risk recently solicited business for a long and short haul trucking program in Texas and New Jersey through the Insurance Journal’s “New Markets” section.
Four calls from Insurance Journal to Jerry Pohida and United Risk Management Services for comment on this story were not returned.
