Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Unit investigators served a Lafayette-area insurance producer (agent) with a cease and desist order and summary suspension of her insurance license, prohibiting her from conducting any kind of insurance business in Louisiana, Insurance Commissioner J. Robert Wooley announced.
The C&D order alleges that Tonya Broussard Nolan, 31, sole owner and only licensed producer of Nolan Insurance Agency LLC, forged signatures on insurance applications and other documents, failed to remit to insurance companies more than $13,000 and issued bogus vehicle identification cards to unsuspecting customers.
Department of Insurance records show that Nolan held a property and casualty insurance license from May 1999 until the current suspension. Those records also show her business addresses as: 5611 Cameron St., Scott; PO Box 466, Scott; and 3047 Heritage Rd., Rayne.
“If you have questions about this or any other insurance-related matter, call us at (225) 342-5900 or, toll-free, at (800) 259-5300,” Commissioner Wooley said. Upon request, communication with the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit about suspected fraudulent insurance activity may be kept confidential.
