A tropical storm watch was extended eastward from Pascaoula to Destin, Fla.
A tropical storm warning means tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area within the next 24 hours.
Cindy is expected to make landfall in the Morgan City, La., area late on July 5 or early July 6, and track to Lake Pontchartrain and the metro North Shore, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
