The Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse an additional $55.89 million to Houston and the Texas Department of Public Safety for costs associated with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, officials said.
Houston will receive more than $48 million to cover costs associated with housing Hurricane Katrina evacuees, U.S. Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn said Aug. 14.
The public safety department will receive $7.86 million to offset expenses related to Hurricane Rita preparation and evacuation.
