An Oklahoma City man was charged with six felony counts of home repair fraud after an investigation by Attorney General Drew Edmondson’s Consumer Protection Unit.
Alfred W. Soulek, 56, allegedly took more than $16,000 from six Oklahoma consumers who paid Soulek to install windows and vinyl siding at their residences.
“We allege Alfred Soulek took substantial down payments from consumers to install windows and siding,” Edmondson said. “When he didn’t return to do the work, the consumers requested refunds, but Soulek quit taking their calls.”
Soulek operated his business under the name A-1 Windows and Siding.
If convicted, Soulek could face up to 10 years imprisonment and up to a $5,000 fine for each count.
“We will continue to investigate and prosecute fraud against Oklahoma consumers,” Edmondson said. “The message to perpetrators should be loud and clear. If you’re in the business of scamming people, take your business elsewhere.”
Edmondson’s Consumer Protection Unit has statewide jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute violations of the state’s Consumer Protection Act. Anyone with information regarding suspected fraud or scams can contact the attorney general’s consumer protection hotline at (405) 521-2029.
