Ark. Work Comp Commission Adds Electronic Notice for Claim Contacts

Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission Form announced that its form A-110, the paper document used for decades to notify insurer representatives of new cases at the AWCC, has been replaced by electronic notification.

The A-110 ends its “career” at the AWCC as perhaps the form in longest use. It was older than all other forms in current use (Form P, Form N) and outlasted by 16 years its contemporaries such as the no-longer-used A-111, Form 29, Form A-30.

Form A-110 was issued by the AWCC whenever a case was opened by the employer’s representative on Form 1 or by employee representatives with a Form C.

Effective Jan. 9, 2007, the AWCC began using its new E-1 notice concurrently with the paper Form A-110. The E-1 is dispatched daily to the claims contact for carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators.

The representative will be the sole source contact required by AWCC Rule 099.29 (“Claims Office and Report Cards”). Notification will be by Electronic Mail with a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet attachment.

The AWCC intends soon to offer similar confirmation for Form 2 with E-2 notices. The disappearing Form A-110 never provided that service.

The E-1 has all data as the Form A-110 but also a lot more information to help insurers to improve Rule 099.29 Report Card grades. Among some of the many additions are the status of Form 1 (“timely”, “late”, “needed”) and the date the employer was notified.

Using E-1 instead of the old Form A-110 reduces notification time, provides the AWCC file number in 24 hours rather than several days, allows respondents a method of sorting claims for assignment/referral, and gives immediate feedback as to filing timeliness.

The subject line on the E-Mail each day will be “Arkansas WC Claims Established” and will include the date on which those cases were opened.
