Gov. Mary Fallin has asked for a federal disaster declaration in three Oklahoma counties as a result of severe storms and flooding in June.
Fallin announced last week that she’s requesting individual assistance for homeowners, renters and business owners in Caddo, Comanche and Garvin counties.
The storms and floods that began June 11 are blamed for two deaths and damage to nearly 300 homes, including major damage or destruction to 124 homes.
Flooding also forced the closing of numerous roads, made travel dangerous and led to more than 150 water rescues by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and local fire and police departments.
