The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) recovered more than $3 million for policyholders in 2017. The money was paid out to Oklahoma consumers who had claim disputes with their insurance company.
OID’s Consumer Assistance/Claims Division, which processes and investigates all complaints lodged by the public against insurance companies, opened 6,220 files in 2017. Employees also answered more than 16,000 phone calls.
The money recovered for consumers last year totaled $3,326,828.16.
