Dozens of firefighters and a fire boat battled a large wharf fire in New Orleans on Jan. 3.
Fire officials say a large part of the wharf was engulfed in flames and it took 55 fire personnel to get the blaze under control nearly two hours later.
The New Orleans Fire Department says the blaze was partially obstructed by marshland and trees.
A Port of New Orleans fire boat, the Gen. Roy S. Kelley, battled the blaze from the Mississippi River side of the wharf. But fire officials say that barges docked in front of the burning wharf hampered the boat’s ability to attack the flames with water.
No injuries were reported. Fire officials said early Tuesday that the cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
