The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) said it has issued a data call to Insurance companies writing personal automobile and residential property policies to gather information for the HelpInsure.com website.
TDI said in a commissioner’s bulletin that HelpInsure is a resource for Texas consumers who are shopping for personal automobile or residential property insurance. Insurance Code Section 32.102 requires that TDI provide this information. Responses for this data call are due by July 11, 2025.
Insurance companies meeting one of the following criteria must respond to this call:
- The insurance company is in one of the top-25 national groups and has more than $1 million in direct written premium in Texas; or
- The insurance company is in one of the top-25 national groups, has more than $1 million in direct written premium in Texas, and issues and processes business through a nonaffiliated company (for example, a county mutual).
TDI said it will notify insurance companies by email if they meet the above criteria and must report. Insurance companies in the top-25 national groups that are not writing new business must confirm this in writing to TDI.
