The Professional Insurance Agents of Georgia reports the death of Stephen M. Merritt of Buford, Ga. Merritt passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 6. Merritt had been an agency management specialist with Selective Insurance Group since 1991.
Merritt was active in the local insurance community. Among his many accomplishments, he received the PIA of Georgia Company Representative of the Year in 1993 and 1995. He also served on several PIA of Georgia committees over the years, including the Convention Committee and CIC/Education Committee. Merritt mentored many agents throughout Georgia’s insurance industry.
Visitation will be March 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Flanigan’s in Buford Ga. (770) 932-1133. Merritt’s funeral service will be held at First Baptist of Buford March 9 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Merritt’s family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Buford High School Scholarship Fund.
