Shawn Edwin Linger, of Fairmont, W.Va. has pleaded guilty to one felony count of embezzlement, according to Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline.
Linger admitted to taking more than $18,000 in premium payments made to his employer, Jim Lively Insurance, Inc. of Clarksburg. The premium payments that represented numerous policy holders were replaced by Jim Lively Insurance Inc. so that no individual policy holder suffered losses.
Linger faces one to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,500. Sentencing is set for June 29.
Investigation and prosecution in this case has been a joint effort with Harrison County Prosecutor’s Office and the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner.
