North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Jim Long announced the arrest of
an Archdale man charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
Department investigators arrested Billy George Flynt, 47, on Sept. 13 at the Guilford County magistrate’s office. Officials released Flynt with a written promise to appear for an Oct. 22 court date.
Department investigators allege that Flynt aided his former wife, Alice Flynt Bowman, in collecting on a fraudulent disability claim with American Health and Life Insurance Company.
Bowman, 42, who was arrested by Department investigators in June and charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense, allegedly received $23,000 in disability claims. Investigators allege that she was not in fact disabled, and Flynt continued to file claims for his wife even though she had already returned to work.
