A multi-agency state task force led by the Tennessee Department of Transportation to help the hardest hit areas with storm debris removal got underway Sunday.
Operation “Tennessee Storm” will be aimed at debris removal of public right-of-ways in Macon and Sumner counties.
Macon and Sumner County’s Emergency Management Agencies will identify priority sites for debris removal and County Highway Departments will support the operation with debris removal teams and equipment. Citizens are encouraged to move debris from private property to public right-of-ways to assist in the recovery effort.
The task force also will partner with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for recovery effort support and to track the debris amount.
Tennessee Storm set up its headquarters at TDOT’s Macon County Garage, 503 Chestnut St., in Lafayette.
The recent Presidential disaster declaration for Hardin, Macon, Madison, Shelby and Sumner Counties provides both individual assistance and public assistance, and includes debris removal and emergency protective measures.
