John R. Webb died in 1996 but his workers’ compensation payments continued until early 2007, according to the Kentucky Office of Insurance.
Webb’s son, John S. Webb, 44, of Nicholasville, Ky., pleaded guilty in Jessamine Circuit Court to five felony counts after cashing those checks.
Authorities originally charged him with 27 felony counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, KOI reported.
Webb must make restitution of $7,369.78 to Underwriters Safety and Claims Inc.
He received a sentence of five years on each count to run concurrently. The sentence was conditionally discharged for five years if he complies with the terms of his probation.
Webb earned credit for 33 days he spent in jail prior to sentencing.
