Zach Scruggs must report to prison by Aug. 15 for knowing about the bribery scheme that also landed his father and law partner behind bars.
Scruggs was indicted in November along with his father, famed tort attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, and several associates.
They were charged with trying to bribe a judge with $50,000 in a dispute over $26.5 million in legal fees.
Richard Scruggs reported to a Kentucky prison Aug. 4 to begin a five-year sentence.
Sidney Backstrom, the Scruggses’ law partner, began a 28-month sentence the same day at the Federal Correctional Institution Satellite Camp in Forrest City, Arkansas.
That’s also where Zach Scruggs will serve his 14-month sentence for knowing about the bribery scheme and not reporting it.
