Mississippi is one of 15 states that will share in $200 million allocated by U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Steve Preston.
The money is for states affected by natural disasters. According to a HUD news release, the funding is provided through the Community Development Block Grant Program and will help support each states’ long-term disaster recovery and critical infrastructure needs.
Mississippi will receive about $2.3 million after several counties along the Mississippi River experienced severe storms and flooding earlier this year.
