West Virginia Fire Destroys 4 Coal Trucks

August 11, 2009

The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a blaze that destroyed four coal trucks and damaged a fifth truck in McDowell County.

State Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jimmy Gianato says the cost of the damage and cleanup is about $750,000.

Gianato says three firefighters were injured while fighting the fire, which was reported at 4:15 a.m. Sunday in Keystone. All three were treated at a hospital and released.

Gianato says the fire is considered suspicious.

He says the trucks are owned by Appalachian Trucking.
