New York-based Valiant Insurance Group, Inc. has opened a new office in Atlanta, expanding its specialty and casualty operations.
Valiant has recruited a team of primary and excess casualty professionals from Markel Corp. to operate its new Atlanta office.
With 25 years of experience in the excess and surplus insurance lines business, Sue Ross joins Valiant from Markel to serve as vice president and office manager. Ross previously held casualty insurance positions at General Star, Hartford Specialty and Travelers Insurance Co.
Assistant Vice Presidents Kimberly Fincher and Sheila Fisher also bring experience in the excess and surplus lines market from Markel. Fincher previously held underwriting positions at Commercial Services & Protection, Inc. in Duluth, Georgia; while Fisher held underwriting positions at Maxum Specialty, Windward Group, General Star Management Co., as well at several Atlanta insurance agencies.
Also from Markel, Valiant’s Business Services Manager Helen B. Barnett previously held positions at General Star Management Co. Crump Insurance Services, London Brokers’ Ltd., The Moore Group, and The Hartford Insurance Group.
Scott Bayer, senor vice president of casualty operations, said that while located in the Southeast, this group will serve clients across the country.
