A judge in Louisville has removed two high school officials from a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from the death of a 15-year-old football player.
The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported that Judge Mitch Perry dropped Pleasure Ridge Park High School principal David Johnson and athletic director Craig Webb from the suit.
Perry ruled there was no indication the two officials failed to enforce rules set out by Jefferson County Public Schools and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
Michele Crockett and Jeff Gilpin filed suit against former head coach Jason Stinson, five assistant coaches and Johnson and Webb after their son’s death in August 2008. A trial is scheduled in June. Their son, Max Gilpin, collapsed after football practice and later died.
The lawsuit seeks more than $19 million in damages.
