Gov. Phil Bredesen says Tennessee will receive a higher percentage of federal matching funds to cover costs due to severe flooding in early May.
Bredesen recently announced that the state’s federal match will be 90 percent of the total eligible costs for projects falling into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s seven categories of public assistance, including direct federal assistance.
Under the cost-sharing arrangement, the state will split evenly the remaining 10 percent of eligible costs with local governments.
The categories include debris removal, measures taken to protect lives and property, and repairs to roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, utilities and parks.
