Godfrey Gray Bell, Sr., of Greenville, N.C., has been arrested and charged with one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent, according to state officials.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that from Jan. 8 through 27, 2010, Bell, while working as an insurance agent for Monumental Insurance, failed to deposit $4,407.68 in insurance premiums he collected and kept the money for his personal use.
Bell was processed at the Pitt County Detention Center and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
According to the insurance department, investigators of insurance fraud in the state have seen more than 268 cases successfully closed with more than $18.5 million in restitution and recoveries, 54 criminal convictions and 89 arrests.
