Hugh Brewer has been appointed to the St. Johns Insurance Co. board of directors.
Brewer brings experience in the reinsurance industry as well as the property insurance field, with an emphasis in high risk catastrophe regions. He retired in 2011 as a senior managing director of Aon Benfield in Stamford, Conn. after a career as a reinsurance broker with Aon that spanned 26 years.
He began his career as an underwriter with General Reinsurance Corp. in New York.
St. Johns Insurance Co. sells home, condominium and umbrella insurance in Florida and South Carolina. It is headquartered in Orlando, Fla.
