Florida-based insurance intermediary Brown & Brown Inc. has promoted Richard A. Freebourn, Sr. to the position of People Officer. In addition to leading internal operations and internal audit for the company, Freebourn will assume the additional duties in the traditional human resources arena. He will lead all facets of the company’s responsibilities to its people including compensation, employee benefits and human resources, according to the announcement.
Freebourn has been employed by the company since 1984 and has served in leadership riles in accounting personal Lines, commercial lines and operations as well as head of the due diligence teams in acquisitions.
J. Powell Brown, president and CEO, said Freebourn has a “proven track record of success in hiring, developing and elevating people in our meritocracy. Rich has the respect of his fellow leaders and I look forward to his leadership as our new People Officer.”
In his new role, Freebourn will report directly to CEO Brown.
