Atlanta police say a minivan tops the list of vehicles most often targeted by vehicle thieves.
FOX 5 News reports that Dodge Caravans were targeted in 172 thefts or attempted thefts in 2015. The Honda Accord and Jeep Cherokee were second and third with 123 and 114 thefts or attempted thefts respectively.
The Jeep Liberty with 96 thefts or attempted thefts and the Chevy Impala with 56 round out the top five.
Atlanta police Major Timothy Peek says Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Plymouth vehicles are stolen at a higher rate than other vehicles. He says models from 2007 and earlier are especially popular because they’re easier to steal.
Peek says the rate for vehicle thefts and attempted thefts is up 11 percent so far in 2015.
