Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol have released the numbers for the 2015 Labor Day enforcement period.
Captain Johnny Poulos tells The Sun Herald the highway patrol issued 4,925 citations with 109 DUI arrests. 132 motor vehicle crashes were investigated which included 37 injuries and 4 fatalities on state, federal highways and interstates.
Poulos says trooper saw a reduction in DUI arrests and seatbelt violations from 2014.
Troop K, which serves the Gulf Coast, reported the lower six counties accounted for 153 total citations with zero DUIs, drug arrests or fatalities.
