The owner of a construction company in Pascagoula has been sentenced to five years in prison for conspiring to set fire to his business.
The Sun Herald reports a judge also fined 53-year-old Michael Eugene Slater and ordered him to pay $7,500 in restitution.
Slater had pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to commit arson at his company, M.E. Slater Construction.
He was arrested along with Michael Schaffran in the December 2014 fire that caused $175,000 in damage to the business.
Schaffran, who pleaded guilty to second-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson, is serving a 15-year prison sentence.
