The National Weather Service says forecasters have confirmed that 20 tornadoes touched down in Alabama last week.
The agency says storm surveys found damage from 11 twisters in central Alabama and nine more in north Alabama.
The strongest was the tornado that’s being blamed for three deaths and multiple injuries in the Rosalie community of northeast Alabama. Forecasters say that twister was an EF-3 with winds up to 145 mph, and it left a path of damage nearly 14 miles long.
All the twisters occurred last Tuesday and Wednesday, and forecasters say they could still add additional storms to the total.
