    “Daryl and Shirley Jenkins had died in the same room six weeks earlier, but officials didn’t immediately identify carbon monoxide as the cause of death.”

    You can find a lot of background on this story in the Charlotte Observer, in particular the article “Why did Jeffrey Williams die?”, that is absolutely damning to North Carolina’s medical examiner system, including the fact that the Observer first reported on many of the issues in 2001.

    Yeah, 2001.

    Wondering whether the hotel was able to obtain coverage from its CGL carrier for this loss, or perhaps it was excluded by operation of an absolute pollution exclusion….
