No one was hurt when several cars on a freight train derailed in South Carolina.
York County Emergency Management Director Chuck Haynes told news outlets that a Norfolk Southern train had several cars derail around 7 a.m. Wednesday east of Rock Hill near the Catawba River.
Three of the cars overturned.
Haynes said no environmental problems have been reported. A tanker that derailed was empty. He says crews were working to clear up the situation.
York County sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said most traffic was back to normal in about two hours.
