More than a dozen fire departments responded to a massive fire early Saturday at an industrial site in Wayne County, North Carolina.
County officials say the blaze, with flames as high as a three-story building at one time, was reported at about 1:27 a.m. at National Salvage and Service Corp., a facility that processes and stores railroad ties. As many as 17 fire departments and 100 personnel responded to the call, according to local news reports.
The Wayne County sheriff’s office said no injuries were reported, and no evacuations have taken place in the area.
The sheriff’s office says investigators will be on the scene to determine the cause of the fire, but there is no cause known at this time.
The fire was in the Dudley community, about 65 miles southeast of Raleigh. Utility crews cut electricity to the plant early Saturday and nearby sections of road were closed.
