Wallace Named NC Deputy Commissioner
William Wallace, a mediator and former chairman of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section, has been named a deputy commissioner at the state’s Industrial Commission.
His term begins March 13 and will be assigned to the commission’s Charlotte office, the commission said in a statement. Deputy commissioners are the first stop in appeals disputes that are not resolved in mediation. Cases can be appealed to the full commission.
Wallace, who began practicing workers’ comp law in 1998, has represented plaintiffs and defendants. He also is fluent in Spanish.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his law degree from the University of Richmond.
McGriff Adds Draddy to Risk Advisory Team

McGriff, a subsidiary of Truist Insurance Holdings and one of the larger retail insurance brokers in the U.S., announced it had hired Greg Draddy for its Carolinas specialty risk team.
The company said Charlotte is an emerging flagship operation and Draddy will help drive further growth in the region. He has more than 20 years in commercial insurance, including the last eight in Charlotte with global brokerage firms, the company said in a news release.
Draddy, a New York native, earned his bachelor’s degree in history from College of the Holy Cross and his law degree from Suffolk University.
