North Carolina authorities charged a woman with insurance fraud after learning that she made slip-and-fall claims at multiple grocery stores in the area.
Jackie Kay Lynch, 61, of Wilson, east of Raleigh, filed a $1,000 claim in August 2024 with Utica National Insurance, stating that she had been injured when she fell at a store in Wilson, the North Carolina Department of Insurance said in news release.
Investigators found that Lynch had made similar claims at eight Piggly Wiggly stores, seeking damages, DOI noted.
The woman was arrested earlier this month and was held at the Wilson County Detention Center.
