Higginbotham, one of the largest insurance agencies headquartered in Texas, has expanded its footprint in the Southeast by adding agencies in Georgia and Tennessee.
The firm announced that Tidwell & Hilburn Insurance in Macon has become the 11th Higginbotham office in Georgia. Coleman “Cole” Tidwell Jr. is president and Rusty Hilburn is vice president.
Tidwell said that the agency, with deep local experience, wanted to make two producers minority owners of the firm, but the process proved to be challenging.
“As we studied various options it became clear that partnering with an established firm that already had an employee equity process in place would provide the structure that we needed,” Tidwell said in a news release.
In Tennessee, Higginbotham added Thompson & Smith Insurance agency in Jackson to the lineup this month, the company said. Chuck Thompson is CEO and Roger Smith is president of the agency.
The agency offers personal and commercial coverage, including workers’ compensation insurance.
