Less than a year after it purchased The General auto insurer, Sentry Insurance is leasing 105,000 square feet of office space in Nashville, giving The General new headquarters.
The General, one of the largest non-standard auto insurers in the country, has had offices in Nashville for decades. The new digs will be on three floors of a blue-glass building known as One Century Plaza, near the Nashville International Airport, Sentry said in a news release.
The office will support Sentry’s hybrid work model and will include a cafeteria, a fitness center and attached parking garage, accomodating more than 520 employees. Work should be completed later this year.
Wisconsin-based Sentry, a mutual insurer specializing in commercial insurance, is owned by Sentry Holdings Inc. The company purchased The General from American Family early this year for about $1.7 billion, the largest acquisition in Sentry’s 120-year history.
