Alfa Insurance is moving into new headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama. But first, the space has to be renovated, the insurer said in news release last week.
Alfa, one of the largest property insurers in Alabama, and its sister organization, the Alabama Farmers Federation, kicked off the renovation project at a ceremony in the capital city. The new digs, subsidized partly by local governments, are in the 200,000 square-foot Capitol
Commerce Center near Interstate 85 in Montgomery, a building that was previously the Colonial Bank headquarters.
“Alfa was created by farmers and has been headquartered in Montgomery since the beginning,” Alfa and Federation President Jimmy Parnell said in a statement. “It’s only fitting our employees will begin moving into this building as Alfa celebrates its 80th anniversary late next year.”
The Commerce Center building was designed 20 years and will be updated to include modern workspaces, officials said. The city and county in April provided a total of more than $7 million in incentives to keep the insurer in Montgomery, new sites have reported. The 700-employee Alfa has been in its current building since 1958, WSFA TV reported.
A projected move-in date was not provided.
