After seeing some of the frustration that insurance agents run into, the head of a well-known south Florida agency has launched a hybrid vehicle – part brokerage and part program manager.
CSMV Underwriting Managers, based in Tamarac, near Fort Lauderdale, will offer a more collaborative approach for agents, emphasizing speed, technology, transparency and service, founder and CEO Christina Downs said in a statement.

The firm will focus on transportation sector but is expanding into surety and professional lines, as well as other market segments in 2026.
Downs is also the owner of Prestige Trucking Insurance, a 67-employee agency in Tamarac, which was named Insurance Journal’s 2024 Best Agency to Work For in the Southeast. Daniel Hausman, recently a business development manager for Nirvana Insurance, is the senior program manager for CSMV Underwriting Managers.
Hausman said CSMV, which stands for Commercial Specialists Modern Visionaries, offers underwriting discipline, new tech and retail service.
The firm was granted a Florida license in February, and it opened in August.
