Florida Tank Company Contesting OSHA Fines After Fatal Incident

March 6, 2026

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently cited a Land O’Lakes, Florida, firm for exposing workers to chemical and respiratory hazards after a fatal incident last summer.

PCE Petroleum Contractors Enterprises, a petroleum tank-service company for gas stations and convenience stores, has already contested the $60,242 proposed fine for 19 safety violations, OSHA records show.

The company in July allowed workers to enter a confined space in Lake Worth without testing the atmosphere and without full-face respirators, OSHA said. One worker was overcome with benzene and toluene fumes and died from the exposure.

Palm Beach news reports said the worker was 15 feet underground in a tight space when he collapsed. The name of the worker was not available.
