21st Century Insurance Presents Check to Los Angeles Mission

November 27, 2001

In what has become an annual tradition, California-based 21st Century Insurance celebrated Thanksgiving Day by presenting a check for $100,000 to Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles.

The gift was presented by Joyce Prager, community marketing director for the Woodland Hills-based automobile insurance company, to Ralph E. Plumb, recently-appointed president and CEO of Union Rescue Mission.

The gift is part of a $1.5-million pledge made in 1992 by 21st Century Insurance founder Louis W. Foster. This year’s gift brings the total amount donated to $1.3 million.

The Mission is an interdenominational Christian organization dedicated to serving the poor and homeless.

Established in 1891, Union Rescue Mission is the largest mission in the United States, and the oldest in Los Angeles.
