To help ensure that employers are promptly notified of a workplace-injury claim, Washington’s Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) has created wallet cards that employers can fill out and give to their workers. The cards are available online at www.WalletCards.LNI.wa.gov. They can also be ordered from L&I by calling (360) 902-5400.
In a continuing effort to ensure that employers are promptly notified of injury claims, L&I also is supporting legislation this session that would give some injured workers the option of filing claims through their employer. If the legislation becomes law, and a pilot program succeeds in improving worker outcomes, it could be expanded to include all workers and employers. Currently, all claims are filed through the injured worker’s doctor, L&I said.
