Cavignac & Associates Donates Nearly $11,000 to San Diego Charities

December 4, 2008

the spirit of the holiday season, the employees of Cavignac & Associates, a San Diego-based risk management and commercial insurance brokerage firm, are donating close to $11,000 to a number of San Diego nonprofit organizations as part of the company’s “Charity Fund” employee gift-giving program.

Each year, Cavignac & Associates donates $40,000 to $50,000 to the community. Donations made through the Charity Fund are in addition to corporate donations.

As in previous years, the Charity Fund this year will benefit Toussaint Academy, the San Diego Junior Theater’s scholarship program, Voices for Children, the Monarch School, Polinsky Center, and San Diego Senior Community Centers. Employees also will once again “adopt” four separate families through the Say San Diego program, giving each family clothing, toys and grocery gift cards.

This year, the company expanded its employee community outreach efforts to benefit Jane’s Room, a program that supports access to and the creation of multi-sensory environments for students with significant medical, orthopedic and cognitive disabilities. Monies from the company’s Charity Fund are also being directed toward the Healthy Start Military Family Cluster, a program of Say San Diego dedicated to providing services that improve the lives of military families and their children.

In addition to giving monetary contributions, employees volunteered their time to help serve Thanksgiving meals at the Senior Community Center.

The Charity Fund employee gift-giving program began eight years ago when employees decided to give back to the community by starting a charitable fund that would allow employees to direct specific amounts from their paychecks into the fund throughout the year. Nearly all of the company’s 40 employees contributed to the fund, giving a combined total of approximately $450 per pay period.

“It’s gratifying to see all of our employees once again step up to the plate to help support those in need in San Diego,” said Jeff Cavignac, president and principal of Cavignac & Associates. “I feel very proud to employ a team of individuals who recognize the importance of giving back to the community.”
