The South Bay Chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women International based in Torrance, Calif., recently installed nine new members to the local association.
Installations included: Kathya Ceballos of Superior Access Insurance Agency; Stacy Colledge of United Agencies Inc.; Irma Cousin of Foy & Associates; Sarah Jane Hollowood of Red Bull Risk Management North America; Linda Sanzo of Green Mountain Association, Vermont; Michele White of Pacific Coast Process Solutions; Cheryl Zamarripa of World Wide Facilities; Lori Fitzpatrick of Custom Employee Benefits; and Nicole Sullivan of Nickerson Insurance Services.
Additionally, Jane Sonoda of Roanoke Trade Services Inc. and Gina Villasis of The Mahoney Group were welcomed as returning members.
Meanwhile, Region VIII of the NAIW honored top insurance professionals and associations at their annual conference.
Insurance Women of Fresno, Calif., took three of the top awards — E.C. Smith Jr. Memorial Award for Safety; Roy Pasini Memorial Award for Public Relations, and Association of the Year.
The Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals (HI) took top honors for education with the Jeffrey Nordhouse Memorial Award.
Individual members recognized were: Doris Wilke from Insurance Women’s Association of Southern Alameda County, Calif., was recipient of the Region VIII AAMGA Award for outstanding Lifetime Achievement; Gail McKenzie from Insurance Women of Los Angeles won the Confidence While Communicating Speak-Off and will now compete at this year’s NAIW National Conference in June at Las Vegas; Runner-Up was Kim Green from Las Vegas Insurance Professionals. Ruth Hinckfuss from San Diego Insurance Woman was awarded Rookie of the Year; Kelly Silva from Insurance Women of Los Angeles was awarded Claims Professional of the Year; Nancy Ladd from San Diego Insurance Women received the Region VIII Hall of Fame Award; and Regina Lemanowicz from Insurance Women of North San Diego County was named member of the year.
Region VIII represents NAIW associations from the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah comprising 32 associations including members at large.
Additionally, the Insurance Professionals of Sacramento celebrated its 72nd anniversary on February 15.
The Insurance Women’s Club of Sacramento was formed in February 1939 to provide a venue for women in the insurance industry to meet other women in the industry, and to be able to enjoy educational and professional development opportunities not previously available to them. In the mid 1990s, the group became the Insurance Professionals of Sacramento Inc. The group currently 39 members from all areas of the insurance and risk management fields.
At its anniversary celebration, special guests from the National Association of Insurance Women in attendance were Palmer Reilly, Region VIII vice president; Marian Lane, assistant to regional vice president; Mitula Patel, California Council director elect; Gerry Mellen, past Region VIII vice president; Kim Cameron, California Council membership chairwoman; and Alyson Holmes, California Council membership liaison/central.
Past Presidents from Insurance Professionals of Sacramento that were introduced and honored included: Rose Kaerth, Nancy Coppage, Cathy Swanson, Debbie Rankin, Connie Co, Sherry McFarland and Sherry White.
