The insurance segment of Dublin, Ireland-based XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) has expanded its North America property and casualty team in the Rocky Mountain area.
Gregory Melton was made as senior property underwriter and Stephen Sanford was named vice president and business development manager. Both are based in Denver.
Melton reports to Wade Pitman, western regional executive for XL’s North American property unit in Los Angeles, Calif.
Melton will be responsible for underwriting large property risks throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Melton comes from the Ironshore Insurance Co., where he was regional property underwriting manager. He also has held positions at Zurich Insurance Co., Lexington, AIG Worldsource and Marsh USA.
Sanford reports to Frank Soldano, western regional executive for XL’s sales and regional management team. Sanford is responsible for business development in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and New Mexico.
Before XL, Sanford was a managing director and broker at Aon Corp. Before that he was vice president of business development for Hartford Financial Products. In addition to his broker experience, Sanford held underwriting positions with Traveler’s Insurance.
