The Colorado State Patrol says a six-vehicle crash in a construction zone in southern Colorado has left two people dead and seriously injured two others.
Troopers say five vehicles were stopped on Colorado Highway 69 near Westcliffe in an active construction zone Tuesday when a tractor-trailer collided with the last vehicle in line. The tractor-trailer went off the road, struck a construction worker and then rolled on its top. The initial crash also caused a chain reaction of rear-end crashes of the stopped vehicles.
The state patrol said the tractor-trailer driver, 57-year-old Robert White of Temple, Texas, and the construction worker, 20-year-old Jeffrey Mosher of Coal Creek, died at the scene.
One driver, 63-year-old Linda Niemeyer and her unidentified passenger were flown to a Denver hospital with serious injuries.
Another driver suffered moderate injuries.
