Authorities say a veteran Las Vegas traffic officer has been suspended without pay following his arrest on felony fraud charges in a workers’ compensation case that has now been turned over to the Nevada attorney general’s office.
Police said in a statement Friday that 46-year-old John Allen Wilson was relieved of duty Monday after he was arrested by Las Vegas detectives and charged with insurance benefits fraud, theft and attempted theft.
Police say Wilson was freed on unspecified on bail following booking at Clark County jail.
A court date wasn’t immediately made public.
AG spokeswoman Edie Cartwright said Friday the state prosecutor’s office hasn’t received paperwork yet.
Wilson has been a Las Vegas police officer since August 1996.
