An Elko, Nev. police officer claims she was forced to resign after three months on the job because of a hostile work environment.
Cassandra Sabo is suing the city, three supervisors and the police chief in a lawsuit filed last week in U.S. District Court in Reno.
In the suit, Sabo says she was the only woman on the force when she was sworn in on Oct. 8, 2012.
She alleges she was hit with batons during training, injuring her wrist and elbow, and put in a choke hold by a sergeant. The suit says neither was inflicted upon male trainees and the incidents were not consistent with standard training procedures.
Sabo says she resigned Jan. 24 because of a hostile, abusive workplace.
The suit seeks unspecified damages.
