President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for New Mexico’s Santa Clara Pueblo.
Friday’s move frees up federal aid to supplement the tribe’s efforts in the area affected by severe storms and flooding in July.
The disaster declaration provides federal assistance for restoration, debris removal and cleanup.
It isn’t immediately clear how much money the northern New Mexico tribe will be getting from the federal government.
Federal Emergency Management Agency officials say additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the tribe and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
