The San Juan Unified School District in California faces $17 million in claims over harassment allegations, with ten lawsuits alleging that Superintendent Glynn Thompson created a hostile workplace.
The Sacramento Bee reported 10 women, past and present employees, have sued the district, claiming they were subject to Thompson’s unprovoked, angry and violent outbursts
One former administrator said in court papers that she was threatened with demotion to custodian after she complained about Thompson’s behavior.
Thompson has been on paid leave since May, leaving a revolving door of interim managers to run the nearly 47,000-student district in Sacramento County.
The district has spent $330,000 to pay for an inquiry and provide Thompson his full salary and benefits while on leave.
Through a district spokesman, Thompson declined comment to the newspaper.
