Los Angeles, Calif.-based Cooperative of American Physicians Inc. named Catherine Miller as risk management and patient safety specialist for CAPAssurance, which provides medical professional liability for hospitals, medical facilities and large physician groups.
Miller will provide risk management services specifically to hospitals. She will conduct assessments of hospitals and work with hospital risk managers to implement programs to increase safety and mitigate liability.
Miller was employed with CAP as a risk management and patient safety specialist for four years before leaving in 2006. Prior to her return, Miller worked as a risk manager and patient safety officer at Kaiser Permanente.
CAP was established in 1975 by a group of California physicians to manage the cost of medical professional liability coverage. Two years later, CAP formed the Mutual Protection Trust, which provides protection to roughly 12,000 California physicians. CAP has offices in L.A., San Diego, Orange County, Sacramento and Palo Alto.
