A garbage collection business that serves the Eastern Oregon community of Pilot Rock has been ordered to pay the state more than $75,000 for not providing workers’ compensation insurance.
Owner and operator Randee McKague told the East Oregonian newspaper her business employs two part-time drivers. She says she provided the coverage except for a small lapse. She said the lapse was due to “a lot of different things.”
The owner says she’s making regular payments on the fine and declined additional comment.
Court records obtained by the East Oregonian show at least three lapses since July 2011. A spokesman for the state Department of Consumer and Business Services says Pilot Rock Sanitation has paid about $15,000 of the fine and has been in compliance with providing coverage since Oct. 28.
